The Prescription: Fiscal Policy for Today’s Economy with Rebecca Thompson

This week’s guest: Rebecca Thompson of Prosperity Now

The Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center (TPC) is holding a series of online conversations on tax and fiscal policy in today’s economy. The discussions take place every other Thursday afternoon and feature varying perspectives on the historic economic challenges facing the United States and the world and the best ways to address them.

This week’s guest is Rebecca Thompson, director of field engagement and the Taxpayer Opportunity Network at the nonprofit Prosperity Now. She leads Prosperity Now’s volunteer tax preparation initiative for filers with low incomes. She’ll talk with TPC senior fellow Howard Gleckman about the just-concluded 2021 tax-filing season and how policymakers can make Tax Day easier for filers with low incomes.
