The Prescription: Fiscal Policy for Today's Economy with Brian Sigritz

Our guest this week is Brian Sigritz, director of state fiscal studies at the National Association of State Budget Officers. Many states are still looking at using their recent budget surpluses to cut taxes, but the economic and fiscal outlook is showing signs of weakness. He will discuss how states’ budget plans could change if recent surpluses give way to future deficits.

This interview is part of the Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center series of online conversations on tax and fiscal policy in today’s economy. The discussions take place every other Thursday afternoon and feature varying perspectives on the historic economic challenges facing the United States and the world and the best ways to address them.
