Job Announcement

The Tax Policy Center (TPC) is looking for someone with a passion for computer programming and public policy to work on development and use of our state-of-the-art microsimulation model of the US tax system. Duties include estimation of responses to incentives in the tax policy system and the design and implementation of the algorithms that simulate aspects of personal and corporate tax laws. The candidate will produce analysis suitable for dissemination through the TPC Web site, in academic-style publications, and in publications distributed broadly to the public. TPC’s work is routinely featured in major media and cited by policy makers and political candidates. The successful candidate for this job will likely be able to read the results of his or her work in the New York Times or see it on network and cable news.

Candidate must have outstanding analytic and mathematical skills and a desire to apply these skills to tax policy issues. Master's degree or equivalent experience in economics, public policy, other social sciences, applied math or statistics is required. The candidate should have computer programming experience and basic knowledge of econometrics and statistics. Experience or training in FORTRAN is a plus, but not required.

TPC is a joint project of the Urban Institute and the Brookings Institution; this position is at the Urban Institute and would be at the Research Associate II level.

To apply, visit http://jobs-urban.icims.com/jobs/1496/job on the Urban Institute website. If you have questions, e-mail us at info@taxpolicycenter.org. We will be happy to provide you with more details.

Feel free to forward this message to anyone you think would enjoy this exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of tax policy analysis. Professors with current or former students who they think would be a good match are also encouraged to contact us at info@taxpolicycenter.org.
