The State of the Income Tax — 2003

A Tax Policy Center Symposium

April 8, 2003
Urban Institute
2100 M Street, NW
8:30-11:45

Hosted by the Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center

As April 15 approaches, policymakers are debating the size and composition of this year's tax cut, but are they debating the right issues? What are the real problems with the income tax and what kinds of policies might make it fairer, simpler, and more conducive to econonomic growth? This Tax Policy Center symposium brings together leading experts from inside and outside government to examine the current state of the income tax and suggest some ways to make future tax days less burdensome. Presentations will be brief so the audience can ask questions and make comments.
