TPC Codirector Tapped as New Director of CBO

The Tax Policy Center is proud to announce that Codirector Peter Orszag has been tapped to become the new director of the Congressional Budget Office.

In making the announcement, Sen. Kent Conrad, incoming chairman of the Senate Budget Committee, called Orszag "exceptional. Not only is he an outstanding economist, [he is] widely recognized as one of the most able economists in the country." Current Chairman Judd Gregg called Orszag "an excellent choice."

Orszag will become the fifth Tax Policy Center researcher to serve as CBO director. Current TPC affiliates Alice Rivlin, Rudy Penner, Ned Gramlich, and Bob Reischauer previously directed the CBO.
