The Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center is holding a series of online conversations on tax and fiscal policy in today’s economy. The discussions take place every other Thursday afternoon and feature varying perspectives on the historic economic challenges facing the United States and the world and the best ways to address them.
This week's guest is Valerie Wilson, director of the Economic Policy Institute’s Program on Race, Ethnicity, and the Economy. The Biden administration has made addressing racial economic inequities a priority in its budget and tax proposals. Wilson will discuss how the tax provisions currently under discussion in Congress might achieve those goals and what other areas of the tax code lawmakers may need to address.
