Biography

Michael Deich is an Institute fellow focusing on economic mobility and inclusive economic growth. Previously, Deich served in various government and philanthropy roles. His government positions included designated deputy director of the Office of Management and Budget, special assistant to the president for economic policy, and senior director at the National Economic Council. In the philanthropic and nonprofit sectors, Deich has been the director of policy and government affairs for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, executive vice president for policy and advocacy at the Laura and John Arnold Foundation (now Arnold Ventures), and managing director at the Hamilton Project at the Brookings Institution.

Michael holds a BA in economics from the University of California, Berkeley, and a PhD in economics from the University of Michigan.
